With the hit of Black Friday and Cyber Monday sale, drone sales are expected to be taking off. However, the highly anticipated models from DJI and GoPro are no where to be found.
These two key drone manufacturers announced their latest foldable, no-experience-necessary lightweight quadcopters — the GoPro Karma and DJI’s Mavic Pro in September, and set for release in October. Unfortunately, both experienced setbacks.
Early this month, all GoPro Karma drones were recalled after reports of dangerous malfunctions; some were found losing power during operation, thus making them fall from the sky. Customers were asked to return their drone to get a full refund and up til now, GoPro has yet to release any statement regarding whether a safer, updated version of the Karma will be out by the holiday season.
On the other hand, many customers who pre-ordered a DJI Mavic Pro have yet to receive their drones. According to DJI, those who pre-ordered a Mavic Pro should receive it“within December, on a first-come, first-served basis.”
Perhaps we can only wait and hope that they get out in the new year.
