iPhone 7 – Jet Black is the Gold Standard of Black

A day before the release of iPhone 7, Apple Inc. updated their website and put the information of the phone and the beginning time of sale. On the iPhone 7 page, you could see the image of a shiny black iPhone 7 together with the slogan “This is 7.”

Scrolling down the page for more details, you saw this in the design section:

The gold standard of black.

Crafted from bead-blasted aluminum, our new black model has a rich, deep matte finish. The high-gloss jet black finish was achieved through a new feat of design engineering — a remarkably precise, nine-step process of anodization and polishing. The end result is so purely and continuously black, you can’t tell where the aluminum ends and the glass begins. The dark side, indeed.

The jet black iPhone 7 looks really pretty, and you would like to get one for yourself. That’s also what many others thought before the iPhone 7 opened for sale internationally. Then the next day, even if you were online the second Apple Inc. started selling the phone, you probably failed to get a jet black one. Why? Is the colour really that popular? Yes and no. They are sold out throughout the world, but not by users; reseller sharks bought them all. Simply do a quick search on Craigslist or eBay and you will see.

So should you get one from eBay then? Consider this first, other than its exceptionally appealing look, there is also something you need to know; the jet black coating of iPhone 7 easily gets scratched and so you need a cover to protect it. And the cover will then mask the beautiful reflective finish of the jet black phone.

Apple actually did warn you about this, just written in a really small font.

The high-gloss finish of the jet black iPhone 7 is achieved through a precision nine-step anodization and polishing process. Its surface is equally as hard as other anodized Apple products; however, its high shine may show fine micro-abrasions with use. If you are concerned about this, we suggest you use one of the many cases available to protect your iPhone.

It’s also a fingerprint magnet.

Do you still want to get a jet black one? I will pass and stick with the matte black one.
